Mission

To inspire liberating transformation in families, children and communities in the Dominican Republic.

The dream for the Family Centre was first expressed in March of 2020.
In April of 2021 we officially launched the Family Centre ministry with social media and weekly parenting support classes in the community of Boba.
By September 2021 we officially purchased a strategically located house that would become our Family & Community Centre facility in Nagua as well as our main EDMC ministry office and SET CAR seminary classroom space. By October 2021 our EDMC office was fully relocated to this new space and by March 2022 we held our first Pregnancy Care group for pregnant teens!

Supporting Families

The need for family ministry in the Dominican Republic is overwhelming. We have seen this first hand over the 15+ years we have served here.
Through very practical programs we are meeting these needs and showing precious families the love of Christ.

- Pregnancy Care Programs for teens and young mothers

- Parenting Support Seminars
- On Site Counselling (by qualified professionals)
- Youth Outreach Events
- Mental Health & Trauma Training

In the future we pray we will be able to offer many more programs and services such as ...

- Lactation Support and Counselling
- Early Childhood Education Programs
- Literacy Programs
- and so much more!

Working to Break Cycles

Families in the Dominican Republic face significant personal and social challenges (poverty, unemployment, low education, abuses, stress, lack of resources, lack of opportunities, etc.). These challenges have direct and significant impacts on children’s physical, mental and emotional development. These children eventually become parents and adult members of their community and will most likely face the same issues their parents faced. This is a cycle that will continue to negatively impact children, families and communities unless the cycle is broken.

We believe that by helping families with the repetitive challenges they face, we can help them raise healthy children who will become healthy adults and therefore healthy parents and members of society. This is a cycle worth repeating.

We know that these cycles can be broken and transformation can take place by the power of the Gospel and through teachings based on God's Word and it's principles.

Loving to Break Cycles

- She is 13 years old and pregnant - scared and unprepared.

- She is a single mother of 3, struggling to give her children a brighter future.

- He is a young teen struggling with depression, anger, neglect and past abuse.

- these scenarios are the reality of today's youth as well as their parents and their grandparents. When will it end? The resources to help these individuals are either not available or beyond their reach.

Through our Family & Community Resource Centre we aim to meet teens and families as they face some of the most difficult struggles of their life. We want to support them, encourage them and help them as they navigate their times of crisis -
AND BREAK THE CYCLES!

We partner with National and Canadian professionals to offer quality support programs and teachings.

We employ a team of national staff trained in psychology and pastoral counselling.
